Halloween Safety Tips

1. Stay in familiar neighborhoods.
2. Cross streets only at corners.
3. Never cross between parked cars.
4. Carry a flashlights or glow sticks.
5. Walk facing on-coming traffic if there is no sidewalk.
6. Be aware of motor vehicles that may be turning into or backing out of driveways.
7. Accept your treats at the door and never go into a stranger’s house.
8. Costumes should be flame resistant.
9. Try to stay away from costumes that are long and drag on the ground.
10. Make-up is safer than wearing masks, which can obscure vision.
11. Costumes should be light, bright and clearly visible to motorists.
12. Parents should know the route their children are taking and accompany any small children.
13.  Set limits on when children should return back home.
14. All treats should be thoroughly checked by parents before given to children.
15. Stay away from, and don’t pet animals you don’t know.
